Job Description
Title: Supplementary Schools Coordinator
Contract: Part time, 10 hours per week, includes weekend working particularly on Saturdays
Salary: £25-28 per hour – open to self-employed staff
Location: Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster
The Supplementary Schools Coordinator will be responsible for building relationships and upskilling local supplementary schools in Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster. The role is focused on supporting and signposting supplementary schools to help them to develop high quality teaching and support for children and young people.
We are looking for someone with knowledge and experience of working with diverse communities in West London, with experience of supplementary schools, small charities and/or teaching.
About Young K&C and Young Westminster Foundation
Young K&C and Young Westminster Foundation are working together to support supplementary schools across our boroughs. Both of our organisations run exciting, cross-sector partnerships, creating a community of member and partner organisations working together to support children and young people in our boroughs.
We aim to improve outcomes for local children and young people by building a thriving local voluntary sector and reducing inequality. Our approach brings together local voluntary organisations, businesses, and public sector organisations to provide targeted support for local children and young people.
What you’ll be doing:
- Being the first point of contact for supplementary schools to advise and support them with information about funding, training, and development
- Visiting supplementary schools (including at weekends) to advise and support them with quality assurance and organisational development
- Organising local supplementary schools partnership meetings
- Working with our partners to coordinate support
- Keeping records of your work using our database systems
- Liaising with our staff teams to support supplementary schools to access funding and training opportunities
- Working as part of our teams to help out with events and activities
What we’re looking for:
- Knowledge and experience of supplementary schools, small voluntary organisations and/or teaching
- Passionate about supporting local children and young people and the organisations that work with them
- Commitment and interest in working with community organisations
- A strong commitment to supporting and including people from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to build strong, working relationships with people from a wide range of backgrounds
- Strong understanding, appreciation and respect for the beliefs, values, customs, traditions, and behaviours of people from different cultural backgrounds
- Excellent organisation and planning skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Experience organising and delivering in person and online events
- A positive, solution-focused approach to work
- Ability to work independently and in a team
Although not essential, we strongly encourage applicants who live, work or study in Kensington and Chelsea or Westminster and who have knowledge and experience of the local area or supplementary schools.
This role will require some evening and regular weekend working in order to visit local supplementary schools.
